Wedding Daze – Michael Ian Black's Directorial Debut

Wedding Daze (also known as The Next Girl I See and The Pleasure of Your Company) is a 2006 comedy film that is scheduled for release on August 17th, 2007. Michael Ian Black, a comedically talented actor who has gathered a cult following for his numerous small roles in both TV and film, will be making his feature film directorial-debut from a screenplay that he himself wrote. The film stars Jason Biggs, Isla Fisher, Edward Herrmann, and Joe Pantoliano.
The film follows Anderson (played by American Pie alumni Jason Biggs) who, after just breaking up with the love of his life, is convinced that he will never love again. After his best friend urges him to just “go for it” in a coffee shop, he boldly asks their waitress Katie to marry him. To everyone’s surprise, she agrees, and Katie and Anderson must work to together to make their spontaneous relationship work.
Although this premise may sound like usual romantic comedy drivel, anyone who is familiar with Michael Ian Black’s style knows that they should expect anything but “usual.” His groundbreaking style of comedy came to life in Stella, the short lived Comedy Central sketch comedy show. The show’s poor ratings and eventual cancellation seems like a pretty good indicator that America just wasn’t ready for that unique type of humor. It’s good to see Black getting a second chance at a larger audience!
Jason Biggs is an American actor who got his breakout role as Jim Levenstein in the America Pie films, a role for which he is still best known for. His character played the central role in the first three films (American Pie, American Pie 2, and American Wedding) but wasn’t featured in any of the subsequent spin-offs.
Wedding Daze, which seems to be the final title, is set for an August 17th, 2007.
