The Ten is an upcoming comedy film based on the Ten Commandments. The film tells 10 different stories, each based upon a different commandment. The Ten features an all-star cast and is directed by David Wain from a script by Ken Marino and himself. The film is being distributed by Thinkfilms with a release date of August 3rd, 2007.

David Wain is writer, director, actor, and comedian. His best known film is Wet Hot American Summer, but David himself is possibly best known for being a founding member of the comedy troupe Stella, along with Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black.

Ken Marino doesn’t have that extensive of a resume, but is immediately recognizable to fans of the late and great television show Veronica Mars as private detective Vinnie Van Lowe.

Among the cast list for The Ten are actors such as Adam Brody (The O.C.), Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice), Jessica Alba (Sin City), Famke Janssen (the X-Men movies), Oliver Platt (The West Wing), Liev Schreiber (Scream), Paul Rudd (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), and Ken Marino. Keep in mind that this isn’t even half of the cast list.

Judging by the trailer, The Ten looks to be gut-bustingly hilarious. A few of the story highlights include a police detective (Liev Schreiber) who becomes jealous of his neighbor’s newly-bought Cat Scan machine, a doctor (Ken Marino) who leaves a pair of scissors in one of his patients as a joke, and a rhinoceros (voiced by the hilarious H. Jon Benjamin from Home Movies) who supposedly learns the pitfalls of gossip.

Paul Rudd plays Jeff Reigert, the “host” of the movie, and presents all of the stories. He’s also involved in a story himself, where he must choose between his wife (Famke Janssen) and his mistress (Jessica Alba).

Watch the trailer for The Ten and decide for yourself if “gut-bustingly hilarious” is accurate:

It's unfortunate that "The Ten" was not gut-bustingly hilarious. At least I'll always have my Stella Season 1.
