Kim Fields, the daughter of actress Chip Fields, got her big break in The Facts of Life. From 1993 to 1998, she played Regine Hunter in the FOX sitcom Living Single, which also starred Queen Latifah. Although Living Single premiered a year before Friends, it is still sometimes referred to as a “Black version of Friends.” The same joke has been made about the Golden Girls, as the three main character types in Living Single matches those of the Golden Girls.

After Living Single ended, Kim Fields found work in guest roles on several different television shows, such as Cupid, the skit show Kenan & Kel, Strong Medicine, The Drew Carey Show, Miss Match, The Division, and One on One. Most recently, she has been seen on the Emmy nominated show The Comeback, starring Lisa Kudrow, and the UPN sitcom, Eve.

In addition to her prolific television work, Fields has also been in a number of films, both made-for-TV and theatrical. In 2000, she was in Glow opposite Frankie Ingrassia and Matthew Lawrence. That same year, he was in the made-for-TV movie Hidden Blessings, about a female detective that falls in love with a murder suspect. Fields played a rape victim by the name of Carrie McNichols.

In 2001, she reprised her role as Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey for The Facts of Life for the Facts of Life Reunion. Before that year was over, she also guest starred on The Steve Harvey Show and starred in the movie Me and Mrs. Jones along with Brian J. White, who starred in Stomp The Yard and the hit FX drama The Shield.

In 2005, she was in the television movie Bow, a comedy starring Joseph Lawrence (brother of Matthew Lawrence, whom she starred with in Glow) and Bow and Wow, who plays himself in the movie.

On top of all this, Kim Fields has also released a rap/R&B album entitled Smooth is Spoken here. Check out this interview with Kim where she talks about it.
