Where are they now? Justine Bateman

Justine Bateman is an American actress best known for her role as Mallory Keaton on the sitcom Family Ties. She starred opposite Michael J. Fox, who played Alex, her brother. The focus of their relationship was typical sibling rivalry stuff. Family Ties ran from 1982 to 1989, for a total of seven seasons. Bateman was there for the entire run.

In 1988, she hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live. During that same year, she starred opposite Julia Roberts in the film Satisfaction. The film centered around an all-girl band named Mystery, and Bateman played the lead singer (and lead role) Jennie Lee. The cast also included Liam Neeson as Martin Falcon, a bar owner and Jennie’s love interest, and Deborah Harry of Blondie fame. Bateman also provided the vocals on the soundtrack.

Bateman had a brief stint on the NBC sitcom Men Behaving Badly that only lasted for six episodes. She left over a contract dispute. The series starred Rob Schneider and Ron Eldard and only ran for 22 episodes.

Bateman also appeared in several made-for-television movies, such as The Fatal Image and Eyes of a Stranger. She appeared in the Showtime series Out of Order as well, which also starred Hollywood couple Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy. Check out my write-up of the couple here.

Bateman is the sister of actor Jason Bateman of Arrested Development; she guest-starred in the third season of the popular show as a woman claiming to be Jason’s character’s sister, only to turn out to be a prostitute.

In 2006, she starred in the motion picture The TV Set as well as the made-for-TV movie To Have and To Hold.

In 2007, she can be seen in Hybrid, a made-for-TV science fiction movie.

Here is a public service announcement that Justine did that talks about mean little kids.
