Hellraiser 2008 - Pinhead and the Cenobites return
61
I never really watched the Hellraiser movies. I remember, as a child, seeing some lady’s skin ripped off in what I’m pretty sure was a Hellraiser movie. Also, I remember something about an eerie box. I don’t have anything against them, I was just never really into horror enough to actively seek it out. Nevertheless, I’ve been exposed to many classic horror franchises, such as Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween. I’m pretty familiar with Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers, but I don’t know much about Pinhead. Well, except for the fact that he has pins in his head, which is just gross.
Reading up on Hellraiser, I’m taking quite an interest in it. It seems to deal with interesting themes, such as sadomasochism; it seems to be a much deeper film than your typical slasher. The character of Pinhead also seems to be interesting due to his ambiguous nature. However, like your typical slasher franchise, it’s been milked all to hell.
Here is the full list of Hellraiser films and the years they were released:
Hellraiser 1987
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 1988
Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth 1992
Hellraiser: Bloodline 1996
Hellraiser: Inferno 2000
Hellraiser: Hellseeker 2002
Hellraiser: Deader 2005
Hellraiser: Hellword 2005
So, as of 2006, it’s spawned seven sequels. So what do you do when you’ve beaten something to death? You start the whole process over again!
In 2007, production will begin on a remake of the original Hellraiser. Clive Barker, the creator of the Hellraiser property, will write the screenplay. That seems sort of odd to me. I would think that the purpose of a re-imagining is to have somebody else re-imagine everything! With Barker at the helm, you have to wonder how this film will differ from the 1987 film it’s based on. Still, Barker is a talented writer, so you can bet that it will be worthwhile.
Well I'm all for the remake cuz I love the movies! I just wanted to let u know that the first 3 films are done by Clive the rest of them he had nothing to do with them and from bloodline to hellworld there not even sequels cuz they have nothing to do with each other there just based off of Pinhead and i agree with Salome Toums that i hope he goes with the story from the book cuz in the book pinhead is a female the reason y Clive did not do this in the movies is bc he thought that people would not get into as much if he had used a female for the role of pinhead and in his new book about pinhead he is killing her off bc of how the other people made the other Hellrasier movies. To the person that wrote this YOU NEED TO READ THE BOOK!!!!!!! and uf u think that the pins in his head is gross then u shouldnt be watch'n horror movies!!
Actually clive barker only wrote the first screenplay
Pinhead666, I'm not sure where you got your information from, but Clive barker only wrote the first one. He was actually quite unhappy with the 2nd and 3rd movies. In my opinion the only true hellraiser is part 1, part 2 was overdone, and part 3 was fucking ridiculous. I like the mistake of the cenobites, no one ever said they were from hell until part 2. Instead clive barker leaves it to the imagination, and alludes that they are a part of some other dimension... pinhead himself says they are explorers from the furthur regions of experience, angels to some, demons to others.

Remaking the film shouldn't be too bad, though insanely typical in today's society. Remakes are the rage nowadays, and I'm sure Clive is running out of cash, especially since the movie didn't quite go along with the original short story, The Hellbound Heart. Pinhead's voice was that of a woman, Kirsty was a friend of Larry's, not his daughter, and so on and so forth. So hopefully, Clive will incorporate more of his original ideas into this one than he did with the original screenplay.
