Balls of Fury – Ping-Pong with Christopher Walken
61
Balls of Fury is an upcoming comedy film centered around the sport of ping pong. It stars relative newcomer Dan Fogler, George Lopez, and legendary actor Christopher Walken. The film is written and directed by Robert Ben Garant and is scheduled for a US theatrical release on September 14, 2007.
Dan Fogler plays a former ping pong champion named Randy Daytona, who gets a chance to make his way back into the spotlight when FBI agent Ernie Rodriguez (George Lopez) recruits him to infiltrate an underground ping pong tournament run by the notorious Feng (Christoper Walken).
Although Dan Fogler has a lot on his plate at the moment, with a total of eight films seeing release in the next two years, he’s relatively unknown at this point to average filmgoers. However, theatre fans will know him as William Barfee, a role he won a Tony award for, in the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
George Lopez is a Hispanic comedian who has appeared in various television shows and films, including his own The George Lopez Show, which ran from 2002 – 2007. He’s also widely recognized for being one of the Latin Kings of Comedy.
Christopher Walken needs no introduction whatsoever. He’s possibly one of the most famous actors in the world, with a cult following that’s even bigger than his mainstream following. He’s covered a variety of genres, but comedy really seems to be where he shines.
While the trailer only has a few funny moments, the involvement of Christopher Walken will probably be enough to get me to the theaters to see this one. I just hope that Dan Fogler can hold his own against the comedy genius.
